Hi, I am Krista Marie Willis I am 32 years old and this is my story.

I was born in the Pacific Northwest, I grew up in Southern California and I met the love of my life when I was 19 on a job interview (March 2007). Of course, I didn’t know it then, I didn’t know it for a while, in fact I went on to break his heart a few times before I really knew just how much I loved him. It was in March of 2009 (March 14th to be exact) that Ryan rescued me. I had a lot going on in my life at that time and he helped me through it.

First came love: March 2009-Sept 2013 (engaged 09/24/2013)

Then came Marriage: October 11, 2014

Then came baby in the baby carriage: January 13, 2016

I had 11 years with Ryan, 11 life changing years. Hank only had 2 in a half years with his Dad, 2 in a half beautiful years… and I documented all of them.

I started this blog for a few reasons.

#1. It helps me. I have never been a writer… ever. I have never journaled or written anything down. After Ryan’s accident without even thinking about it I started to write. My brain was over loaded and overwhelmed. Writing has helped me unscramble the mess inside my head a little.

#2. It helps others. The more I have shared and the more I have opened up, not only makes talking about it “easier” but has also helped others understand the importance of taking more pictures, being more spontaneous, squeezing their loved ones a little tighter. Life is too short and too unpredictable.

#3. Last but not least, For Hank. Hank will start to ask questions, I’m not sure when, but he will. I want to have the right answers for him. The facts. Not just clouded memories, but the things that actually happened. So, I write.

Ryan Michael Willis was the love of my life, he was the best husband, the best father, the best son, grandson, and Friend. On August 22nd, 2018 my heart was broken, but it still beats, I’m still here, I need to be here. This blog is about life after Ryan’s accident, and all the things that help to heal “My broken Heartbeat.”
